Hello everyone,

Thanks again to everyone who came out to help with flags on Flag Day in June and again on the 4th of July. We could not do it without your help. I often hear how from people how great it is to see the flags flying on SR69.

The Post fell short of our 100% membership goal for 2022. I am hoping, and with your help, we can attain 100% next year.

I came across some information about the Legion dues while at convention last month that I want to share with everyone. Below is copied directly from the National Bylaws of the American Legion, Article IV, Section 4, DISCIPLINE OF POST AND POST MEMBERS.

• Section 4. A member whose dues for the current year have not been paid by January first shall be classed as delinquent. If their dues are paid on or before February first, the member shall be automatically reinstated. If the member is still delinquent after February first, the member shall be suspended from all privileges. If the member is still under such suspension on June first of such year, their membership in The American Legion shall be forfeited. A member so suspended or whose membership has been so forfeited may be reinstated to active membership in good standing by vote of the Post and payment of current dues for the year in which the reinstatement occurs; however, the Posts, Departments and the National Organization may waive the provisions hereof, upon payment of dues for the year in which reinstatement occurs, with reference to former members who have been prevented from the payment of dues by reason of active military service.

Hopefully, this will help explain why it is so important to get your annual dues for the upcoming year paid before 1 January. Dues for 2023 are due and payable, as of 1 July for 2023, and are $44.00.You can pay at a Post meeting, send a check to the Post’s snail mailbox, or as always, pay online at legion.org by credit card.

The minutes of our June meeting for your review are under the Post 108 tab. Under the Special Events tab is an article from Military.Com about the U.S. Coast Guard. Betcha most of you did not know some or all this information. We have a few members who are proud Coasties. Please ask them about their service with the Coast Guard.

1st Vice, John Moffitt will be running the meeting as I am down with COVID and don’t want to infect anyone. I hope y’all can make the July meeting.

Please remember that all of Yavapai County and most, if not all, of the National Forests and other counties are in stage 2 fire restrictions. Be Safe.

Until next time, please stay safe, healthy, and enjoy the summer.
