I hope everyone survived the monsoon rains last month and did not have any or much damage. I know a few members had some hail damage and as a result are getting new roofs, including myself.

The Auxiliary is back from their vacation, and we will have our annual SEPT potluck between the Auxiliary and Post meetings. The Auxiliary will have their meeting at 1500 hours this month and the potluck will begin at 1600. Please bring a side dish. The post is furnishing the chicken.

Our next flag day is Patriot Day, Saturday 11 SEPT, which is just before our meeting on the 14th. If you haven’t been to the healing field in Prescott Valley between the town Hall and the Police Department, be sure to do that. 3,000 American Flags flying in memory of all those who perished during the 9/11 attacks on our country (it has been 20 years since that horrific attack in 2001). The display includes flags for the 19 Granit Mountain Hotshots who perished during the Yarnell file in 2013. There is only one other Healing Fields in Arizona and that one is in Tempe.

The next flag day after 9/11 will be Friday, 17 SEPT for POW/MIA Day. I will send a reminder out early next week. Then no more until Veterans Day. The District 8 picnic is at Goldwater Lake on 18 SEP. See me for tickets and parking passes. Tickets are $6 each. We are furnishing the hotdog and hamburger buns this year. Come out and meet other vets from District 8.

No new word from Sparklight about cableone.net discontinuation. The last word was “all email service will be discontinued by mid-2022”. Please let us your new address when you change to a new email service.

Just over 2 months into the fiscal year, we have 54 members who have already paid online, at a meeting, or who are PUFL members. That puts us at 57% of our 2022 goal of 94 members. Once again, I challenge all to pay early so we can reach my goal of 100% before the end of this year. We can do it. You can pay your 2022 dues on online at: https://www.legion.org/, click on membership, then renew, and follow the instructions. Or send your dues to our POB 26239 PV, AZ 86312, or pay at a post meeting. 2022 dues are $43.

I am still looking volunteers for Service Officer, PA Officer, and Flag Captain. I hope to see y’all at the 14 SEPT meeting, or other Legion, Rider, or Auxiliary events. Your guys and gals are awesome!

Until next time, please stay safe, healthy, and dry!
