Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

I hope no one was severely affected by the recent Crooks Fire. As a reminder, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions went into effect today county wide.

We had a great turnout for flags on Loyalty Day. Thanks to everyone who came out to help. Our next flag day will be PV Days on 7 May, Armed Forces Day on 21 May and finally, Memorial Day on 30 May. I will get the notices out a few days before each flag day.

The PV Days Parade will be on 7 May. Still looking for participation. Several members are bringing vehicles and we will also be the color guard as well as a parade entry. If you want to participate, please be at the ABC building by 0800. The parade starts at 0900, goes down Florentine from Navajo to Lake Valley and terminates at the Pruitt’s Furniture parking lot, about .7 miles.

Don’t forget the Auxiliary will be doing poppies on 20 – 21 May. They have several locations and need volunteers at each. It always helps to have Post members and Riders with their bikes at each location. I am sure Diane will be reaching out to you at the May meeting to sign up.

We have 89 members who have either renewed or joined for 2022. That puts us at 92.7% of the 2022 goal of 96 members. The 100% goal is by the end of May. Your annual dues are a huge help toward helping your post in supporting the 4 pillars of the Legion (Americanism, Children and Youth, National Security, and Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation). Please consider paying your 2022 dues soon so we can continue supporting these important pillars.

The election of Post officers is on-going. Elected offices are Commander, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice, Finance Officer and 2 Members-at-Large. The Chaplain, Adjutant, SGT-at-Arms, Service Officer, Judge Advocate, etc., are all appointed by the newly elected Commander. The nomination process will continue until the May meeting, concluding with the election of and installation of officers. Please consider stepping up for one of the elected offices or volunteering to serve in one of the appointed positions. You will find it a very rewarding experience and it is not difficult at all.

I hope to see y’all at the May meeting, at Flags, and/or the parade.

Until next time, please stay safe, healthy, and enjoy this nice weather.

Gary Taylor
Your Humbled Post Commander
