Hello everyone,

WOW, July came and went, and it brought with it some extremely high temperatures. Remember, if you are doing anything outside during the daytime, please stay hydrated and use your sunscreen. Don’t forget, we are still into our stage 1 fire restrictions. Thanks to our first responders for keeping the Grapevine and Racetrack fires from spreading more than they did.

Our next flag day will be on Monday, 4 September for Labor Day and then again on, 11 and 15 September. My thanks to all who turn out to help with the flags. We cannot do it without all your support!

On 18 July, we provided Bingo at the VA Domiciliary. Thanks to those who came out to help. The vets at the DOM really appreciate this effort.

Elton Anderson update: Elton and Mila are back home. He really appreciated the Welcome Home gathering on their arrival at the airport. Thanks to those who were able to come out.

July was the start of the 2024 membership year. Our goal for 2024 is 88 members and our members who have already paid their 2024 dues put us at 60.2% of our goal. You can pay on-line at: https://www.legion.org/, send a check to our PO Box (PV Post 108, PO Box 26239, PV, AZ 86312) or you can always pay at any post meeting. 2024 dues are $45.

Don’t forget to send your monthly American Legion activity hours to Adjutant Ron at: ronarrigoni@gmail.com, or put them in the logbook at each post meeting.

Since today (4 August) is the Coast Guard’s 233rd birthday, I am attaching an article from Military.com about 5 awesome things to know about the Coast Guard. Besides our own Coastie’s, how many of you know of some or all these facts?

Looking forward to September, we have the Auxiliary back from their summer break and with them, the September potluck on 12 September. We will invite our Boys Staters to the meeting to talk about their experience. We also have the District 8 picnic on 30 September at Post 90, Black Canyon City.

I hope to see you at the August meeting. Remember to bring canned food for the food drive. Until then, stay healthy and safe.
